On November 23, 2007, my life changed forever. My name is Loc Huynh, and after surviving an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound, I was given a second chance—an opportunity to turn my experience into something greater than myself.

At the time, I was in a toxic relationship, and during a heated argument—while under the influence of handlebars (prescription pills)—I accidentally shot myself in the head. That moment should have been the end of my story, but instead, it became the beginning of a new mission.

For 17 years after my injury, I didn’t know how to handle my situation. I carried the weight of my experience, unsure of how to turn my pain into purpose. That all changed the day I met Jason Short, the owner of Texas Gun Club. After hearing my story, he saw something in me—an opportunity to create change. He offered me a position as a Gun Safety Advocate, a chance to use my experience to educate others and prevent tragedies. That was the moment I knew my story could help save lives.

Beyond advocacy, I also understand the challenges that come with mobility limitations. That’s why we provide vehicle modifications to help survivors regain their independence. Whether it’s adaptive driving controls, wheelchair-accessible conversions, or other essential modifications, our goal is to ensure that individuals can navigate their daily lives with greater ease and freedom.
